Brian McLaughlin pulls back the curtain on what actually happens at a REBL Dads Gathering.

Full Reflection

The experience on Necker Island is absolutely amazing. This is actually my second trip here — I was here for the inaugural event with like-minded individuals. If you're wondering whether you should come to an event like this, the answer is absolutely yes. I get the apprehension when you're not sure what's going to go on behind the scenes, so let me tell you a bit about it.

Behind the scenes is a lot of conversation with other like-minded dads and entrepreneurs, people at different levels of success — from people who've sold companies to people just starting them. It's an amazing opportunity to share your story and hear others', and you'll find a lot of commonalities with people you'd never expect. It's a great place to share openly about what's going on in your life, what challenges you're facing, and look for solutions together.

This time last year I was still actively working — I've since retired, so my challenges are a bit different, but I found so many similarities between my challenges and other dads' out here: how to be the best role model, not just in business but in family. This is the REBL Dads event, so it's not just about your business, it's also about your life at home. We spend a lot of quality time on things like self-care and handling difficult situations. But I think one of the most rewarding parts is the bonds you make with other like-minded people — people you can share honest stories with, because it's challenging as a dad-entrepreneur to be vulnerable with others. This is a place where you can do that safely, with confidence, and walk away with a lot of takeaways for everyday life.
